Kevin Spacey Says He's Losing His Home Due to Debt from Legal Bills

"I can’t pay the bills that I owe," the actor told Piers Morgan

Kevin Spacey is losing his Baltimore home due to debt, according to the actor.

On Tuesday, June 11, the Usual Suspects alum, 64, appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where he discussed his ongoing legal troubles. A preview of the interview was shared on social media ahead of the episode’s airing.

“Where do you live now?” Morgan, 59, asked his guest in the clip shared to X (formerly known as Twitter).

A visibly emotional Spacey responded, “Well, it’s funny you ask that question because this week, where I have been living in Baltimore is being foreclosed on.”

“My house is being sold at auction. So I have to go back to Baltimore and put all my things in storage. So the answer to that question is I’m not quite sure where I’m gonna live now, but I’ve been in Baltimore since we started shooting House of Cards there,” Spacey said.

The U.K.-based broadcaster asked the actor how long that had been.

Spacey shared that he’s called the city his home since 2012, and has lived at that particular property since 2016.

When asked by Morgan why his home is being foreclosed on, the Golden Globe award winner simply stated, “‘Cause I can’t pay the bills that I owe.”

“Are you facing bankruptcy?” Morgan asked.

Spacey said he “managed” to “dodge it,” though there had been times when he previously thought he would have to.

“How much money do you have?” the television host asked.

“None,” his guest replied. “I mean, you have some sense of legal bills. I still owe a lot of legal bills that I have not been able to pay.”

According to Spacey, he owes “many millions.”

While the television preview did not share specifically what legal issues caused Spacey to go into debt, his confession comes after a highly publicized, years-long sexual assault case.

The first allegation against the actor came in 2017 at the height of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the Me Too movement.

At the time, Spacey denied the allegations, and came out as gay.

The decorated actor’s career took a turn — with him being killed off on House of Cards and edited out of All the Money in the World.

In recent years, others have accused Spacey of groping and similar acts, including the Old Vic in London finding 20 allegations of “inappropriate behavior” against the actor between 1995 and 2013.

During his U.K. sexual assault trial in July 2023, Spacey said he was “crushed” by the allegations against him. He told the court he thought he was being "romantic" and "intimate," according to BBC News.

“It did not happen in a violent, aggressive, painful way,” he continued “It was gentle … and it was, in my mind, romantic."

Spacey added, "I lost my reputation, I lost everything in a matter of days," in regard to when allegations were first brought against him.

In July 2023, the actor was found not guilty of nine counts of alleged sexual assault in London's Southwark Crown Court. Other initial charges were struck out, according to BBC News.

In May 2024, more victims, including his estranged brother, Randy, came forward in Investigation Discovery's docuseries, Spacey Unmasked.
