Kirsten Dunst Says She Would Do Another “Bring It On” Movie 'As Long as It's Not Embarrassing'

Dunst revealed her participation in a follow-up to the 2000 cheer classic would depend on the content

Kirsten Dunst isn't opposed to a Toros reunion!

During a special screening of her new movie Civil War in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, the actress spoke to Entertainment Tonight about whether she'd be open to appearing in a follow-up to her 2000 teen-comedy cheer classic Bring It On.

"I mean, it depends," said the Academy Award nominee, 41. "Everyone's bringing back their stuff, right? It's a throwback time."

"As long as it's not embarrassing," Dunst added of starring in a potential second film.

Directed by Peyton Reed, Bring It On follows Torrance Shipman (Dunst), a senior at Rancho Carne High School in San Diego and newly crowned head cheerleader, as she navigates leading her squad to nationals — all the while dealing with the moral dilemma presented upon learning that the Toros' routines have thus far been stolen from the nearby underfunded East Compton High School's Clovers, led by head cheerleader Isis (Gabrielle Union).

The 2000 film, written by Jessica Bendinger, also stars Eliza Dushku and Jesse Bradford. It spawned five direct-to-video sequels and a sixth Halloween-themed installment on TV all featuring new cast members, as well as a Broadway musical.

Back in January 2023, Union, 51, discussed a potential Bring It On revival and what the chances are that the film would actually come to fruition.

"We've been developing a sequel forever," she told Variety. "But for folks who don't exactly understand how long development can take in Hollywood, that could be five minutes or 50 years."

Meanwhile, Dunst is celebrating the upcoming premiere of her movie Civil War, which costars, among others, her husband and fellow Oscar nominee Jesse Plemons.

The upcoming dystopian drama, which also stars Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Cailee Spaeny and Nick Offerman, follows a group of people in a "race to the White House in a near-future America balanced on the razor’s edge."

As Dunst and Plemons attended the screening in Los Angeles Tuesday night, Dunst revealed to ET that it was Plemons' 36th birthday and said with a laugh, "Sorry he's stuck at a premiere!"

"We're just gonna eat dinner while everyone else watches the movie," she added of the couple's plans for the evening. "All our friends are here, so we're basically taking over the party like it's his birthday, I guess!"

Civil War is in theaters April 26.
