The “stunning” competitor: On Sunday, Shin came into the spotlight after a thread featuring action photos of her in a bikini while competing in a beach volleyball team tournament at the Asian Games was posted to FMKorea, an online community.

Shin’s gratitude: Despite the enthusiasm for Shin, both the South Korean men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams did not advance past the preliminary rounds in the Asian Games.

Male teams included Lee Dong Seok and Kim Jun Young and Kim Myung Jin and Bae In Ho, while the female teams were Jeon Ha Ri and Lee Ho Bin and Kim Se Yeon and Shin. The teams competed in matches at the Ningbo Banbian Mountain Beach Volleyball Court in China from Sept. 19 to 22.

However, Shin expressed her gratitude on Instagram, thanking her coach, supporters and teammates for their unwavering support.

“I sincerely thank the coach and everyone who supported me,” Shin said. “I would like to thank those who have given me precious opportunities and support to participate in the competition once again, and through this experience, I will learn a lot and strive to be the best I can be in my position.”
