Kristin Chenoweth responds to “Bachelor” star's Lady Gaga shade over “Wicked” songs

Carly Waddell previously said she thought Gaga — who attended NYU with her — was "so extra" and "ridiculous" for singing at school.

Contrary to the beliefs of that legendary anti-Stefani Germanotta Facebook group, Lady Gaga, you will always be famous to Kristin Chenoweth.

Gaga's former NYU classmate, ex-Bachelor star Carly Waddell, publicly shaded the A Star Is Born and Joker: Folie à Deux singer-actress for annoying her by singing ballads from Wicked at the piano during the classmates' lunchtime. Now, Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda in the Broadway musical based on the story of The Wizard of Oz, said she'd happily duet with Gaga on tunes from the show.

"I'm ready to sing FOR GOOD with our girl Gaga," Chenoweth shared Wednesday on X (formerly Twitter), referencing the iconic tune she performed on stage with fellow Wicked cast member Idina Menzel.

In a 2021 interview for Apple's Schmigadoon! series, Chenoweth also praised Gaga's vocal abilities and proclaimed herself to be a part of the "Monster" family, with regards to Gaga's Little Monster fanbase.

Waddell said on the most recent episode of Jason Tartick's Trading Secrets podcast that Gaga was "so extra" and "ridiculous" while a student at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts from 2003 to 2005, before she (and Waddell) both dropped out of the program.

"[We] would eat in a dance studio," Waddell recalled on the podcast. "And there was a piano, and [Gaga] would sit at the piano every single day and just play and sing Wicked at the top of her lungs every day. And we were all just trying to eat lunch. It was break time, and we were all forced to listen to her. And yes, was she good? Of course! She was great, but I just wanted to eat my sandwich. And so I used to just eat in the hallway because she was driving me crazy."

While Chenoweth and Menzel fronted Broadway's version of Wicked, a long-awaited Hollywood adaptation is slated for release on Nov. 27, 2024, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande — the latter of whom collaborated with Gaga on the 2020 Chromatica album hit "Rain on Me."
