LaKeith Stanfield is loving married life!

The Atlanta actor, 32, chatted with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of The Book of Clarence on Thursday, when he described his mindset six months after announcing his marriage — and a baby — with wife Kasmere Trice Stanfield.

As he explained now, being a husband has "absolutely" changed him. "Much more for the better," Stanfield said. "I mean, I feel like it's something that calls to you to be your best and highest self whenever, wherever you can."

"I got my ring on right now," he added. "I take it with me everywhere, and I feel my wife's presence with me everywhere. So it's a really beautiful thing, and I'm really, really grateful to have her."

As for what he's enjoying most about being a husband, Stanfield explained that living together is a "real beautiful thing."

"Just the way that you can partner together and live life together and explore and create together," he said.

Back in July, LaKeith and Kasmere announced their marriage and baby news exclusively with PEOPLE, as the actor explained that life "completely changes" upon becoming a parent.

The pair revealed news of their engagement on Instagram in December 2022, shortly before tying the knot privately and welcoming their infant child, whose name and sex they have not yet been publicly shared.

LaKeith, who was already a father of two daughters when he welcomed the newest addition to his family, shared the news with PEOPLE in an effort for the couple to “tell our story" themselves. "We’re bringing our family forward so we may inspire others," he said at the time.

The pair met in Canada, where the actor was working at the time, and LaKeith later proposed during an island vacation around Kasmere's birthday.

“All I ever tried to do in those crazy moments, like when she was in labor, was be a support system. That and figure out how many ice chips I needed to give her,” he said at the time.

In his latest role in the biblical comedy The Book of Clarence, Stanfield plays the titular character who "risks everything to carve his own path to a divine life," per a synopsis. He calls the role a "unique part" in a film written and directed by Jeymes Samuel.

"This was an arc and a story that I felt was universal, that everyone goes through wanting to feel like there's someone in life and going through the motions and trials and tribulations," he explained to PEOPLE at the premiere.

"Coming out of the end of that feeling inspired, I thought was a good message to leave people," he added.
