Lana Del Rey and Quavo Set Release Date for ‘Tough’ Collaboration

Lana Del Rey and Quavo will release their new country-trap single “Tough” on July 3, the singers jointly announced Friday morning. The pair confirmed the release date following weeks of teasers with a post on Instagram featuring a black-and-white polaroid photo of Del Rey putting a diamond chain on Quavo.

Del Rey and Quavo delivered the debut live performance of “Tough” last week during Del Rey’s headlining performance at Boston’s Fenway Park. The Atlanta rapper joined Del Rey to croon lines about being “tough like the scuff on a pair of old leather boot.”

“Like a .38 made out of brass / Tough like the stuff on your grandpa’s glass,” they sing together. “Life’s gonna do what it does/Sure as the good Lords up above/I’m cut like a diamond shinin’ in the rough.”

“Tough” is presumably a single from Del Rey’s incoming album titled “Lasso,” which she announced earlier this year during an appearance at Billboard’s pre-Grammy event in Los Angeles.

“If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country,” she was reported telling the crowd. “We’re going country. It’s happening. That’s why Jack [Antonoff] has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years.” At the time, Del Rey said the album would be released in September.

“Lasso” follows 2023’s “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
