The Last Of Us immersive horror maze announced for Universal Studios

A The Last Of Us themed horror maze has been announced as part of the lineup of Universal Studios' annual Halloween Horror Nights celebration.

Fans of the video game franchise and HBO’s hit series can experience all the horror of the post-apocalypse for themselves when the haunted house experience opens at Universal Orlando Resort on September 1, and at Universal Studios Hollywood on September 7.

The maze will put fans in the shoes of The Last of Us protagonists Joel and Ellie as they encounters rabid 'clickers' and navigate iconic settings recreated within the Pittsburgh Quarantine Zone.

Halloween Horror Nights, a limited event that runs annually over the Halloween season at Universal Studios Orlando and Hollywood, impressed Digital Spy last year with its recreation of iconic horror movie Halloween.

This year's horrifying events will run on select nights until October 31, and you can get a taste of what's to come with the teaser below.

The Last of Us viewers who don't fancy taking on the horror of the apocalypse themselves may have to wait a little longer than they'd like for season two of HBO's adaptation, as auditions for the upcoming season have been put on hold amid the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.

HBO drama chief Francesca Orsi has also said that there's currently no guarantee the show will continue past season two.

"I think Craig [Mazin] and Neil [Druckmann] are still figuring out where they're going to come to an end," Orsi told Deadline.

"We have loosely heard that there will be a Season 3 idea for the series, but at this point, we're taking it one season at a time.

"There's no guarantee at this point that we'll have a Season 3 but I know that they both have a vision for Season 3. Whether that lends itself to doing more [seasons], I don't know yet," she continued.

The Last of Us airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK.
