The Last of Us star Nick Offerman lands sitcom guest role

The Last of Us star Nick Offerman has landed a role in sitcom The Conners as a guest star for season six.

The sitcom stars John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf as part of a working class family struggling to get by following the death of Roseanne – the titular character of the show that The Conners is a spinoff of.

According to TVLine, Offerman will join the cast for the premiere of season six, which is due to air on February 17.

Details of Offerman's character have not yet been disclosed, but in the clip – available to watch above – there is a brief sneak peek of Offerman's appearance.

The clip features Goodman and Metcalf as Dan and Jackie; Ben is seen holding a book that seems to have Offerman's character's face on it. Offerman then asks Dan if he's "family" – and Dan denies any such thing.

The premiere's official synopsis reads as follows: "Jackie faces problems at the Lunch Box and must take advice from an unexpected guest. Elsewhere, Dan and Darlene take a trip into Chicago."

It's fair to assume this unexpected guest is Offerman's character.

Offerman appeared in a standalone episode of disaster show The Last of Us as survivor Bill – who formed the centre of the episode alongside his partner, Frank (Murray Bartlett).

The Parks and Rec star previously hinted that the pair would return in season 2, despite meeting a tragic but relatively peaceful end in season 1.

Offerman said (via Deadline) that the idea "certainly has been pitched", before adding: "We're not short of ideas."

However, co-creator Craig Mazin has put a stop to the idea, telling Deadline on a separate occasion: "There won't be more Bill and Frank."

Offerman won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards for the role this year.

The Last of Us airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in the UK.
