The Lazarus Project spoilers follow.

The second season of the BAFTA-winning sci-fi series The Lazarus Project has released a trailer and confirmed its release date.

The Lazarus Project will return on November 15 and follow Paapa Essiedu as George as he grapples with the trials and tribulations of time travel.

Off the first season's cliffhanger ending, which saw George betray the Project in the name of love, the trailer has confirmed plenty more time-travelling espionage is in store. It also confirms that Essiedu, Anjli Mohindra (Archie), Caroline Quentin (Wes), Charly Clive (Sarah) and Rudi Dharmalingam (Shiv) are back for more action.

A voiceover starts the trailer by warning of impending chaos from ex-Lazarus-agent-turned-terrorist: "Rebrov believes that someone has invented a true time machine." Then, the season's main plot is revealed.

"So we find the scientists, build the machine..." George says, with Sarah adding: "We go back, past the checkpoint, rescue Janet."

George finishes by saying: "Cancel the loop, move on, live happily ever after."

Of course, the trailer hints that the plan may not be quite so easy; the rest of the snippet of the show's second season features guns, tasers, explosions and more.

"Bigger problems" are also teased, and that description seems fitting, given that the "collapse of the loop" is near – which, for the uninitiated, means "our universe will fall apart".

New cast members for season two include Colin Salmon, Royce Pierreson, Safia Oakley-Green, Lorne MacFadyen, Zoe Telford, Sam Troughton and James Atherton.

The first season of The Lazarus Project saw George stumble across the titular time loop-meddling organisation after discovering that the calendar had been rewound six months and that his girlfriend and others didn't notice.

As the project's newest recruit, George spent the entire first season fighting continuous apocalyptic threats — and it doesn't look like season two will be any kinder to him.

The Lazarus Project season two returns to Sky on November 15.
