Lee Soo Hyuk Says His Relationship with Kim Min Hee Helped with His Acting

Lee Soo Hyuk showed he was open to questions about his public relationship with actress Kim Min Hee.

The model-turned-actor appeared on the June 12 broadcast of SBS’ Strong Heart to talk about how he came to appear in MBN’s sitcom Vampire Idol, which came to an early end in March.

Lee Soo Hyuk had signed with his agency dreaming of becoming an actor, and continued to build on his dreams while watching vampire films, because the head of his agency had said that “vampire roles are meant for success.”

The scenario that made its way to him, however, had him appear as a comical vampire.

Vampire Idol also starred Shin Dong Yeop and singer Lee Jung, and had Lee Soo Hyuk play the role of a 500-year-old vampire named Mukkadil. It wasn’t the type of role he would’ve preferred, and on top of that, he was thoroughly embarrassed by the low ratings and following sudden conclusion.

He said, “I honestly blamed the head of my agency a lot for that. I always wanted to be perfect for my fans.”

He added in thanks, however, “I was too tensed up because I had filmed with a lot of big seniors for the SBS drama A Tree with Deep Roots. I think [my agency rep] wanted to shake me out of it.”

When MC Shin Dong Yeop asked whether his experiences as a couple helped him with his acting, Lee Soo Hyuk answered, “It does help.” Lee Soo Hyuk had been in a 2-year open relationship with actress Kim Min Hee from 2008.

The day’s episode of Strong Heart also featured Lee Chang Myeong, Han Groo, Cultwo, Han Sunhwa, Kim Yu Mi, Lee Soo Hyuk, Kim Da Rae and Kim Sung Kyu.
