Letitia Wright Hints At Return Of Black Panther’s Shuri In Future Marvel Projects: “There’s A Lot Coming Up”

Letitia Wright is teasing a possible return to the Marvel Universe to reprise her role of Shuri from Black Panther.

The Marvel star made an appearance on The View to promote her latest movie, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, and she was inevitably asked about her future in the MCU.

“There are some new Avenger movies on the horizon, and everyone wants to know if Shuri will be making another appearance in the Marvel universe. We need it,” Sunny Hostin asked.

Wright was taken aback by the question and carefully chose her words while answering, saying, “If it’s, uh, let’s just say, let’s just say… I would like to continue with Shuri. She’s one of my favorite characters, such a blessing, honestly, I kid you not. I’m so grateful for her.”

When asked if a third installment of Black Panther was in the works, Wright teased, “There’s a lot coming up.”

Wright originated the role of Shuri in Ryan Coogler’s 2018 film Black Panther. Shuri is T’Challa’s (Chadwick Boseman) teenage sister who is technologically savvy. Wright reprised her role of the Princess of Wakanda in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The star took on a bigger role in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever following the death of Boseman and becoming the Black Panther.

Marvel has Avengers 5 scheduled for release May 2026, which could potentially be a film in which Wright could reprise her role as Shuri / Black Panther. The studio also has Avengers: Secret Wars set for release on May 7, 2027.
