Liam Gallagher has hinted he is eager to get back on stage after undergoing hip surgery.

The 50-year-old former Oasis frontman - who has been battling chronic pain caused by arthritis in his hips for several years - has had hip replacement surgery and joked he is ready to perform "Riverdance".

Gallagher has now tweeted: "Morning Rastas so I had my Hip operation last wk all went well and RESPEK to all the doctors n nurses who looked after me Big shout out to the A team for getting us home safe n sound you know who you are and Florence guru I love and adore you Riverdance here I come."

The Roll With It singer previously confessed he was scared of having the operation because it involved breaking his hips.

Gallagher told Mojo magazine: “I asked the lady what the downside was: ‘You might die in surgery. It’s a one in a million chance.’ F*** off. I’m not going to crisp it having my hip cracked, thank you.

"I'd rather be in a wheelchair with Debbie pushing me around, like Little Britain.”

The Supersonic singer has been in a relationship with his former personal assistant Debbie Gwyther for over 10 years and they are engaged to be married. Their wedding plans were postponed due to the COVID pandemic in 2020.

Gallagher previously said a doctor had diagnosed his arthritis as "bad" and described his own bones as "mashed up". He admitted he was in a lot of pain and struggled to sleep at night.

The Little By Little singer said: "I'm definitely on the downwards slide. My eyes are f***ed, my hips are f***ed, got the old thyroid. When the weather’s cold my hips are like, snap, crackle and pop . I need warmth.

“I can’t sleep at night for the pain, tossing and turning. So I’m on the herbal sleeping tablets and they’ve saved my life. One of them: seven hours out – no pain, nothing."

But Gallagher admitted he felt there was a "stigma" to having a hip replacement, despite admitting that if he had the operation it would "fix" him and he would be able to, "do it all".
