Paradox Interactive has made some big promises for its open-world The Sims competitor, Life by You. Unfortunately, the game has faced multiple setbacks, with Paradox announcing its third delay on Monday.

Life by You delayed, no new release date set

Life by You was set to launch in PC early access on June 4. However, the publisher announced that it is pushing the date back yet again. “This was not an easy decision,” wrote Deputy CEO Mattias Lilja, “especially since we understand the anticipation and excitement that many players have for the game. However, we believe that additional development time is needed.”

“While we would have preferred to commit to a new release window,” he continued, “we believe it is more prudent to hold off while we plan ahead, rather than committing to a new date that we cannot be certain to meet.” The paradox executive said the company will share more information on Life by You as soon as possible.

Paradox Interactive published Cities: Skylines in 2015, filling the niche left by the failure of 2013’s SimCity reboot. Therefore, it wasn’t surprising that Paradox decided it was time to take a crack at its version of The Sims. However, Cities Skylines 2 hasn’t seen as positive of a reception, and Life by You keeps missing its release date.

The upcoming game boasts a seamless open world, a dynamic conversation system, and the option for the player to control their sims in the third person. It’s directed by former EA executive Rod Humble, who worked on The Sims 2 and 3. Hopefully, Life by You sorts itself out eventually, but it would be understandable if some fans are nervous.
