Veteran actress Lilia Cuntapay has been discharged from a South Cotabato hospital after suffering bruises when a mentally-ill man assaulted her on January 30 during an event in the town of Tupi.

"Sinuntok po siya. May celebration po sa Tupi Gymnasium nang may isang lalaki na nakapasok, according sa kanyang parents may diperensya sa pag-iisip,” PO3 Ryan Daguno of Tupi Police Station told Yahoo Philippines via phone on Tuesday, February 3.

Lilia was there to grace the 63rd anniversary of General Paulino Santos Institute. The man assaulted her while the actress was waiting for her turn to go up on stage.

The Philippines’ Queen of Horror Movies was said to forgive the mentally-disturbed man and is not keen on pressing charges after resolving the issue with his parents on Tuesday morning.

The assault suspect was identified as Aljay Sacramento, 29, of Brgy. Poblacion, Tupi, South Cotabato.

Lilia suffered bruises after she was punched in the nose, Daguno related. She was discharged three days after she was rushed to the hospital.

The legendary actress is known for portraying scary roles in the silver screen. Lilia starred in her first leading role "Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay" in 2011. Her starring role gained her Best Actress at the CinemaOne Originals Digital Film Festival in the same year.
