Lindsay Hubbard on How She 'Pivoted' 6 Months After Engagement End: 'I'm Stronger on My Own 2 Feet'

"That's not the only thing I deem as successful for myself, is engagement, marriage, babies. That's not who I am," the 'Summer House' star tells PEOPLE exclusively

Six months after enduring a broken engagement with fellow Summer House star Carl Radke, Lindsay Hubbard is moving forward — her way.

"I am highly focused right now, and I am really busy at the moment," Hubbard, 37, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "I think after everything was said and done, after last year, I thought my future in life was going to go one very different direction for this year. Then, when it didn't, I decided to focus on my own individual successes and what I deem as a personal success in my life. That was OK."

Thinking of her future aspirations, Hubbard says, "I want to own a home. I want to start a business. I want to focus on my financial future and success."

"That has really been my focus, is just my own success. I don't know what that means exactly. My version of success has changed as the years go on," she shares. "My early 20s, it was [to] graduate from college and move to New York and start my career in PR. Then, it was like, climb that ladder and work as hard as you can, get all the knowledge and experience as you can in the field of PR."

"Then, my early 30s, it was like, OK, start my own PR firm and then keep it afloat and make it successful in the hardest city that there is to possibly ever own a business in. And have clients and make a name for myself and make money and learn the business side of things, and that was my early 30s," she continues. "Then, my mid-30s were like, OK, well, then my version of success is like now I'm ready to think about my actual future and settling down, and that famous line, engagement, marriage, babies or whatever I said."

The Bravo star said she thought engagement, marriage and babies "was going to be my future and my future success, and that's what I deemed as successful." But everything shifted after she was suddenly single again after Radke, 39, called off their engagement last September.

"When everything happened six months ago, I pivoted. Because that's not the only thing I deem as successful for myself, is engagement, marriage, babies. That's not who I am," she explains. "I am a very hardworking, hard work ethic, strong-willed and strong-minded girl. So, for me, it is hopefully to find a happy, healthy relationship with someone who's compatible, first and foremost. If the family comes, the family comes."

Hubbard adds, "But other than that, my individual financial success is what I deem as success right now. I always feel stronger when I'm on my own two feet, and I'm not having to think about picking someone else up."

One thing Hubbard has been focused on lately has been Hubb House, her new rental property in Nashville, Tennessee. Purchased back in January, Hubbard has been working tirelessly to get the group share property ready for guests starting next month.

"It's perfect for a Summer House-type group of friends, just without the cameras," she jokes. "I'm so excited for people to see it."

Hubbard and Radke met in 2016 while filming season 1 of Summer House. Though the pair initially built a solid friendship, their bond briefly turned romantic during season 4 filming in the summer of 2019 but split shortly after. They rekindled seriously a few years later, confirming they were together again in early 2022.

The two reality stars got engaged in August 2022 but called off their engagement nearly one month after Hubbard hosted her garden party-themed bridal shower.
