The Little Mermaid finally confirms Disney+ release date
The Little Mermaid fans can now rejoice — the movie's Disney+ release date has been announced, and there isn't long to wait.
The live-action remake will drop on Disney's streaming service on September 6, as confirmed by a tweet from the official Disney+ X/Twitter account.
The account wrote: "Disney's #TheLittleMermaid is making a splash at home! Stream it September 6 on #DisneyPlus!"

The Little Mermaid was released in cinemas earlier this year to positive reactions, with many calling the adaptation one of the best Disney live-action remakes.
This Disney+ release date isn't the only exciting news, however. There is an animated series officially in the works that will be based on Halle Bailey's Ariel and will be aimed at pre-schoolers. The show will follow 8-year-old Ariel as she explores the sea and goes on fun-filled adventures with friends.
The show will also feature Ariel collecting items from the world above to add to her cavern of treasures, as seen in the feature film.

Meanwhile, the movie itself left a big impact on Bailey herself, who recently explained what Ariel and the film taught her.
"I truly feel like Ariel taught me that I’m worthy, and I’m stronger than I thought. We were filming in the middle of the pandemic and in London, and my family couldn’t come visit me, so I was very isolated," Bailey said.
"Everything was closed down. I would literally go from work to home, and I would sleep on the weekends because I’d be so tired, and then I’d go right back to work."
She continued: "But looking back, I am happy that it was that way. [It] helped me mirror the emotions Ariel was feeling in the film to where she felt trapped and isolated and ready to see a brand-new world where her heart belonged. I felt like there were parallels to both of our lives in the time that I was filming, and I was grateful for that."
The Little Mermaid live-action movie will be on Disney+ on September 6. The animated movie is streaming on Disney+.
