    Six single family office funds linked to a $3 billion money laundering case in Singapore have received tax incentives from the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

    The family office industry is coming under scrutiny after Singapore busted its largest-ever money-laundering case that led to the arrest of 10 foreigners and seizure of assets worth billions.

    On Tuesday, the government introduced new legislation designed to tighten gaps around policing illicit money flows.

    Keir Starmer remains on course to be the UK’s next prime minister, following Thursday night's exit poll which put Labour on course for an historic election victory.

    Labour is projected to win 410 seats with the Tories on track for just 131, their lowest-ever number of MPs.

    Korean Air followed Singapore Airlines' lead in ending its cabin service earlier because of increased turbulence concerns.

    Singapore Air changed protocols after one of its flight encountered severe turbulence that resulted in the death of a passenger.

    Korean said turbulence incidents had doubled over the past five years.

  • How Malaysian pilgrims endured extreme heat during Haj

    The scorching weather did not stop 31,600 Malaysian Haj pilgrims from completing one of the five pillars of Islam.

    They are among the 1.8 million Muslims worldwide who endured Saudi Arabia’s extreme heat during this year’s annual gathering, where temperatures soared to 52°C, according to reports.

    According to a government official, 19 Malaysian pilgrims had died during this year’s Haj, but mainly due to heart disease, as of 25 June.

    Google's greenhouse gas emissions in 2023 spiked 48 per cent higher than in 2019, according to the tech giant's environmental report.

    The company saw a 13 per cent increase in emissions between 2022 and 2023.

    Three years ago, Google set out a target to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

    Google is now describing its 2030 goal as “extremely ambitious”, adding that “it won’t be easy” to achieve as a result of AI.

    Senator Imee Marcos, the sister of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, said China had set 25 targets around the Philippines that it would attack with hypersonic missiles.

    Batanes, a province in the north near Taiwan, will be among the first targets, the lawmaker said.

    Tension has been rising between Beijing and Manila due to recent clashes in the disputed South China Sea.

    President Marcos has ordered his troops to de-escalate tensions in the disputed waters, but the Philippines' top general said his soldiers will fight back if they are assaulted again.

  • Singapore jails man who provided illegal carpool service for molesting teen

    After a rapist was sentenced to jail and caning recently, another offender was sentenced to 14 months in jail and three strokes of the cane in Singapore for molesting a 14-year-old girl.

    Fong Tong Zjin, who provided an illegal carpooling service, was also fined $1,800 for using a car without a valid public service vehicle license.
