Liverpool injury update: Ibrahima Konate, Alisson and Trent Alexander-Arnold latest news and return dates

Liverpool remain without a host of key players for their Premier League title run-in.

While Jurgen Klopp’s side impressed in their enthralling draw with Manchester City on Sunday to keep them level on points with leaders Arsenal, the injury list at Anfield remains lengthy.

Though Thursday’s return leg with Sparta Prague in the Europa League looks little more than a formality having won 5-1 away in the Czech capital last week, Klopp has another big game to navigate before the international break.

Manchester United travel to Anfield in the FA Cup this weekend as the Reds look to add more trophies to Klopp’s list of achievements before he departs.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Liverpool injuries.

Ibrahima Konate

Defender Ibrahima Konate missed the draw with City after coming off during the Europa League win a few days before.

Klopp, however, confirmed the French international had a “good chance” to return to action for the visit of United on Sunday.

Potential return date: Sunday 17 March vs Manchester United

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Fellow defender Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t played in a month after suffering a knee injury against Burnley.

Assistant manager Pep Ljinders claimed the England international would likely return after the international break.

“Trent [is a] lateral ligament, he will be after the international break,” he said.

Potential return date: Sunday 31 March vs Brighton

Alisson Becker

While stand-in stopper Caoimhin Kelleher has impressed in the absence of Alisson Becker, few would the Brazilian is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Like Alexander-Arnold, however, Alisson isn’t expected to return until after the international break after suffering a hamstring injury in the win over Brentford.

“Ali has a muscle injury,” said Klopp late last month.

Curtis Jones

Midfielder Curtis Jones was also injured against Brentford but is thought to be likely to return after the international break.

Lijnders revealed before the Carabao Cup final: “Curtis is probably the first one [to come back] around the international break. All the others will be after the international break.”

Potential return date: March 2024

Ryan Gravenberch

Summer signing Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off during the win over Chelsea at the Carabao Cup final at Wembley with an ankle injury.

Klopp last week suggested the issue wasn’t overly serious, raising the possibility of the Dutchman returning this month.

“It’s a ligament injury, it could have been much worse, but it’s bad enough for him to be ruled out for this game, next game, then we will see,” he said.

Potential return date: March/April 2024

Stefan Bajcetic

Stefan Bajcetic was a breakout star during an otherwise difficult season for Liverpool last time out but has mustered only two appearances this time out.

After a long time out of action, the teenager is now working his way back up to full fitness.

"He's obviously gaining fitness now... he didn't get a green light yet for us for the team training,” Klopp said last month.

"He's pain-free, completely pain-free, which is obviously the most important thing. All checks we made, like scans again, bone looks good, that's all fine and he's just doing the stuff he’s doing."

Potential return date: April 2024

Diogo Jota

Diogo Jota was another player injured at Brentford and Klopp has confirmed it will take “months” for the forward to return to action.

Potential return date: April 2024

Thiago Alcantara

Thiago made his first appearance in 10 months during the loss at Arsenal in February but may not play again this season after a fresh setback.

With his contract set to expire this summer, it remains to be seen whether or not the midfielder plays for Liverpool again.

Potential return date: Unknown

Joel Matip

Defender Joel Matip suffered a serious knee injury against Fulham in December and faces a race against time to play again this season.

Potential return date: Unknown

Ben Doak

The winger is recovering after undergoing surgery on a lateral meniscus tear in December and is not expected back any time soon.
