Liverpool XI vs Aston Villa: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injuries

Andrew Robertson misses out on a place in the Liverpool squad for tonight’s trip to Aston Villa.

The Reds beat Tottenham 4-2 at Anfield last time out and this evening travel to Villa Park looking to end their iconic outgoing manager’s final campaign as strongly as possible ahead of a final day clash with Wolves.

It has been a particularly bad year for Jurgen Klopp in terms of injuries although it had eased somewhat until the fresh absence of Robertson.

Joe Gomez starts at left-back after the Scot missed training on Friday.

Otherwise it’s unchanged from Liverpool with Jarell Quansah preferred to Ibrahima Konate at centre-back and Cody Gakpo leading the line, leaving Darwin Nunez on the bench.

Diogo Jota is also out having yet to to team training due to a hip injury. Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Bobby Clark and Ben Doak are the only other confirmed Liverpool injury absences at this stage.
