Loki star Owen Wilson has teased a "deeper" story arc for his character Mobius in season 2 of the show.

The actor portrayed the central Time Variance Authority agent in the first season of the Marvel series, which ended with the multiverse being unleashed and Mobius not recognising Loki (Tom Hiddleston) as a result.

While many aspects of his character remained a mystery, Wilson has teased that fans will get to delve further into Mobius's background in the upcoming season.

"I thought I would have a good time but I really enjoyed it," he reflected to ComicBook.com of the first season. "I've been lucky working on a million movies and always having a good time but on that one, I had a really great time and that continued on season two.

"Maybe even moreso because we were filming in London and being there at Pinewood but yeah, [his story] just goes deeper."

After two years off air, Loki viewers now won't have too long to wait until season 2, with the new episodes set to premiere on October 6.

As well as Loki and Mobius, the new episodes will see the return of Wunmi Mosaku's Hunter B-15, and earlier this year the actress opened up about how filming season 2 was different.

"It definitely gave us confidence," she told Digital Spy of the first season's success. "It was just really nice coming back. It's very rare for me to come back to a show. I think I've only ever come back to Vera, and I only came back for one episode.

"To come back to season 2 to see everybody and be like, 'Oh, we did this' – that was really fun. That was just really new. I think I felt a little bit more... I think I felt a little bit more nervous. I hope we live up to season 1, because... that obviously went down well, because we're here at season 2."

Loki season 1 is streaming on Disney+. Season 2 will premiere on October 6.
