London travel news LIVE: Latest Underground updates as several Tube lines hit with delays

The London Underground has been hit with multiple line delays on Wednesday.

The Jubilee, Central, Piccadilly and Victoria lines have all suffered delays of some kind throughout the day so far.

Almost all of these were severe at one point and several had to be suspended for a time.

Most Tube disruptions have now cleared up, with the Central and Jubilee lines still facing minor delays at 3.45pm.

Broken down vehicle on M25

There is a broken down vehicle on the M25, clockwise between J5 (Sevenoaks) and J6 (Godstone/Caterham).

This is currently had a low impact, only causing slower traffic for now, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix.

Victoria Line delays now minor

A fire alert at Tottenham Hale caused chaos on the Victoria Line early this morning, with TfL reporting a part suspension first thing.

The delays were severe until about 7.30am but they are now minor.

London Overground no longer part suspended

The London Overground was part suspended because of a points failure at Queens Park but this is no longer the case.

Metropolitan Line no longer suspended

Traffic monitoring site currently says traffic is “coping well”.

Update to Bakerloo Line delays

The Bakerloo Line has been severely delayed for much of this morning but it is now facing minor delays as well.

Severe delays are taking place between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone - due to an earlier points failure at Queen's Park - and minor delays have hit the rest of the line.

Severe delays to Metropolitan Line

There are currently delays between Moor Park and Amersham due to train cancellations.

After the 09:25am departure from Amersham, the next southbound train will be at 10:25am.

Bakerloo Line delays now minor

While there is still disruption - because of an earlier points failure at Queen's Park - these delays are now minor. There is a good service on the rest of the line.

The Bakerloo Line has returned to running a good service, after facing chaos for most of this morning with both minor and severe delays and part suspension at one point.

New train service between London and Glasgow proposed

A new train service between London and Glasgow could be launched next year.

Transport company FirstGroup announced its plan for some London-Edinburgh services run by its Lumo brand to be extended to and from Glasgow.

Direct trains between London and Glasgow are currently operated by Avanti West Coast.

FirstGroup said a “significant number” of Lumo passengers currently travel to and from Glasgow via other connections.

Extending its network would also provide direct services between Newcastle and Glasgow.

FirstGroup said it is in discussions with Scottish Government agency Transport Scotland and infrastructure management company Network Rail about route options and timings.

Delays on Thameslink over 'trespasser'

There are delays on some Thameslink services because of a reported trespasser on the track, the company has said.

The affected area is the route between Alexandra Palace and Welwyn Garden City.

Landslip repair warning for journeys from Marylebone to Aylesbury

Passengers travelling between London Marylebone and Aylesbury have been warned of disruption after a railway slip.

The railway slip in Stoke Mandeville means major repairs are needed before one of the lines can be safely reopened to trains.

To complete the work Network Rail engineers need to close both tracks between Aylesbury and Amersham stations continuously from Friday 1 to Monday 4 March.

While the railway is closed, passengers are being advised about major changes to journeys between London Marylebone and Aylesbury via Amersham with buses replacing all trains between Amersham and Aylesbury Vale Parkway stations.
