Take a look inside the new Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre
Those living in Pasir Ris can finally visit a hawker centre close to home with the opening of the Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre (PRCHC) on 25 January.
Located right next to the sports centre at Pasir Ris Town Park, the two-storey food hall may be smaller than the usual hawker centres you’re used to seeing – such as the Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre or Maxwell Food Centre – but PRCHC makes up for its humble size by combining modern and traditional food options in one place.
Thus, it is possible for patrons to feast on a poké bowl and a bowl of fried wanton noodle soup before finishing off with a plate of waffles with ice cream and a cup of hot caramel macchiato, all in one place.
There are a total of 47 stalls across both floors with the ground level dedicated to traditional hawker fare. The second floor is where most of the fun is at, where patrons can find a range of cuisines popular among the young, such as Thai boat noodles and Mookata, gourmet burgers, saucy seafood, Hawaiian poké bowls and trendy South Korean foods.
The price range for modern cuisine is also rather affordable, with a plate of gourmet “stack” burger at The Humble Burger” priced at just $7 each. This consists of home-made beef patty, grilled portobello mushrooms, cheddar cheese, caramelised onions, lettuce and miso glaze.
The hawker centre also stands out from the rest in the island with its eye-catching and photo-worthy interior decked with stylish high chairs, chic pendant lights and colourful pop-art inspired signs.
When Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore paid a visit to PRCHC, the stores with some of the longer queues were Royal Kitchen Thai Cuisine, Traditional Wanton Noodle, Handmade Fishball Noodle, Thai Boat Noodles and Prawnaholic.
