“Love Is Blind”'s Chelsea Doesn't Think Timing of Trevor's Proposal Would Have Made Her Pick Him Over Jimmy (Exclusive)

"Trevor just wasn't lining up, and my gut was telling me something... everything was guiding me to Jimmy," Chelsea tells PEOPLE after Trevor claimed timing did impact who she ultimately chose in the pods

Warning: This story contains spoilers from the season 6 of Love Is Blind.

Chelsea Blackwell fully stands behind her decision to choose Jimmy Presnell in the Love Is Blind pods — and doesn't think anything, or anyone, would've changed that.

Last month, after the first batch of season 6 episodees dropped on Netflix, Chelsea's other connection in the pods, Trevor Sova, told PEOPLE he thought the outcome of his relationship with Chelsea would've been different had he proposed first.

Trevor, 31, argued that the pod dates are set up so "whoever is freshest in your mind from the day before is who you're kind of thinking of the most." In Chelsea's case, he said, "She just had a night date with Jimmy for about five and a half hours the night before. And then Jimmy saw her right away in the morning, and that's when he proposed, and then it was me later in the day."

"So I think if you switched it around, it could have gone either way," he added. "I'm not saying for sure, but there's a possibility."

But now, Chelsea, 31, is responding to his theory, telling PEOPLE that the timing of Trevor's proposal would "absolutely not" have changed who she decided to get engaged to.

"I had really two really great men. Trevor just wasn't lining up, and my gut was telling me something. My intuition was just telling me, 'This isn't it, but Jimmy is,'" she recalls.

"The day before Proposal Day, you don't know who's going first — it could be Trevor, it could be Jimmy, it does not matter," she explains. "But I knew for a fact [who I would pick]. I went to bed that night, I prayed, I meditated, I did everything I needed to do to align my heart and my head and everything was guiding me to Jimmy."

Still, Chelsea admits, "I didn't know if I was going to be going through a breakup first or getting engaged first, and I ended up getting engaged first — which either way would've been a total emotional rollercoaster — but it worked out exactly how it should have."

"So yeah, it wouldn't have changed my opinion at all or my answer," she adds.

Before Chelsea and Jimmy, 28, got engaged, both had other connections in the pods that they had to end. Jimmy called things off with Jessica Vestal before he proposed, while Chelsea couldn't end things with Trevor until after she had accepted Jimmy's proposal.

"I had zero indication about that," Trevor previously told PEOPLE. "I walk in there pretty confident. I don't know, I've never connected with a girl like I connected with her, so I was amazed that she felt she had a better connection with someone else... it just shocked me."

After the season 6 couples exited the pods, Jimmy and Chelsea faced trouble almost immediately, beginning with their reveal. Before meeting his new fiancée, Jimmy accidentally called Chelsea "Jessica" to cameras. Chelsea also prompted internet discourse among fans after telling Jimmy that she looked like Megan Fox while they were still in the pods. Following the reveal, Jimmy admitted to cameras that Chelsea "lied" about her appearance, though he was still attracted to her.

Later, the two hit bumps in the road when Jimmy commented on costar Amber Desiree "AD" Smith's body in the Dominican Republic, prompting Chelsea to become uncomfortable and emotional. And in North Carolina, the pair fought about Jimmy's lack of affection and whether he was second-guessing his choice after seeing a photo of Jessica. Things hit a breaking point when Jimmy went out with his female friends — one of whom he previously slept with — and Chelsea later exposed that they had sex, despite agreeing to not talk about the topic in front of cameras.

Speaking to PEOPLE about their fights, Chelsea said there was "so much context missing from both of those massive arguments, which is so unfortunate because I look like a literal insane person when it comes to exposing my life and having my relationship open to the world."

"It sucks to see those parts not be shown, but it is what it is," she added, noting that she regretted betraying Jimmy's trust, though the conversation needed to be had as they were just days away from their potential wedding.

"I definitely do regret bringing it up on camera," Chelsea explains. "That was something that he made very clear he didn't want exposed to the world, but in reality, this is my relationship, these are our issues, and I'm really sitting with this issue that I am not allowed to bring up at certain times, and that's not fair... just having to walk on eggshells around a really massive issue in our relationship, I had to have that conversation. I didn't care about the cameras."

Chelsea also says she has since apologized to Jimmy's friend and received a response. "I reached out to her multiple times and just apologized and said, 'I don't know what's going to be shown, but I truly am so sorry for exposing you in this way. It was never my intention, but this was our relationship and it was a huge issue,'" she shares.

But while Chelsea's storylines on the show with Trevor and Jimmy were full of drama, nothing was quite as shocking as the recent bombshell that Trevor secretly had a fiancée while he was filming Love Is Blind. Trevor has not publicly addressed the revelation, nor has Chelsea.

However, Trevor is expected to get grilled about his secret relationship on the upcoming season 6 reunion, set to air on Wednesday night.

"Unbeknownst to [Chelsea], you had someone on the outside," host Nick Lachey points out in the trailer, prompting an audible gasp from the audience. "I'd like to hear what you have to say."

Trevor attempts to collect his thoughts and speak, but is ultimately rendered speechless by the question.
