“Love Is Blind”'s Chelsea reveals she would have said yes to Jimmy at the altar

"I thought we were in a good, good place, and we weren't," she tells EW.

Chelsea Blackwell never got to experience a wedding in the Love Is Blind season 6 finale, but she's ready to share what would have happened if she made it to the altar with her fiancé, Jimmy Presnell.

"My answer would've been yes, because of the trials that we went through, the hard times that we went through," Chelsea tells EW. "I also was looking at him in such a loving light. I loved going through our hard times together because it made our relationship stronger and I felt like we had such a good foundation looking back on it. Would that have been a good answer at the time? Probably not, but you never know."

Chelsea and Jimmy

Chelsea's hopes were shattered, however, when Jimmy ended their engagement after their amusement park date when he told her that he didn't want to go to the altar. At first she tried to fight for their relationship, but he was set on his decision, so she left their final date in tears.

While Jimmy tells EW that he had warned Chelsea he didn't want to get married days before that last date, Chelsea says she "did not see it coming."

"I was very, very, very blindsided," she adds. "I feel like the week before, we had our ups and downs. It was obviously a roller coaster — we had really great moments and we had really rough moments, so I took our good moments and that's all I was kind of zoned in on right before that whole situation happened. We were talking about the songs that were going to be played at our wedding, and it was just such a wild time to [break up] ... I just didn't expect it at all. I thought we were in a good, good place, and we weren't."

Chelsea is sad that she didn't get to experience her wedding in the finale. "I wish that he tried to go all the way to the altar so we could have had a little more conversation about our relationship," she says. "I think it was six days or something before the wedding, so that could have been a crucial time for us to really dig deep and figure out if it was a yes or no from either of us."

But she also understands why he didn't want to draw out the engagement any longer. "The fact that he did it before was for a reason — he didn't want my family to be flying in, he didn't want to waste my time," Chelsea says. "He mentioned he knew pretty early on, which was very hard to hear, but he just didn't want to waste anyone's time and wait. Because I kept telling him, 'Let's just see this out. Let's work it out. Let's ride this out. We only have a certain amount of time to really learn about each other. Let's go up to the point to decide our answer.' That was fine with me and that's what I was doing the way I was going about it, but he didn't want to waste anyone's time and I condoned him for that."

Even though their relationship ended on an emotional note and she didn't finish the season married, Chelsea doesn't regret choosing Jimmy over her pod ex Trevor Sova. "I don't regret anything — I was so grateful for my decision," she says. "I've grown a lot since Jimmy. I've grown so much in who I am as a person. I feel like Jimmy was supposed to be a part of my story."

Find out what happened after Chelsea and Jimmy's breakup when the Love Is Blind season 6 reunion premieres Wednesday, March 13, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Netflix.
