Love Island star Tommy Fury and One Direction's Liam Payne are set to go head-to-head for Soccer Aid.

The two stars teased the appearance yesterday (April 12) on social media, sharing a post of them facing each other that suggested they could be heading into the ring for a boxing match.

However, it has now been confirmed that they will appear in opposing teams for the charity match on June 11 at Old Trafford – England for Payne, and Fury for the World.

"I’m taking off my boxing gloves and lacing up my football boots," Tommy said on Good Morning Britain. "I am playing for the World XI against England. The big match is taking place at the Old Trafford in Manchester. I’ll see you there."

Liam added: "Hey GMB. After losing last year, I had to come back to Soccer Aid for Unicef and have one more crack at trying to win that trophy. I’ve handed over my captain band to Jill Scott as I’m not going to mess with a Lioness."

Soccer Aid co-founder Robbie Williams previously said: "I’m so proud that Soccer Aid for UNICEF has raised over £75 million since we started it 17 years ago.

"It’s an incredible achievement that will help UNICEF ensure children around the world get the best start in life. But we can’t stop there! Right now, childhoods are being turned upside down by conflict and crisis.

"We’d like as many people as possible to buy a ticket to this year’s star-studded match and help protect play for every child. Thank you so much for your support."

Dermot O'Leary and The One Show's Alex Scott will present live coverage of Soccer Aid 2023 on ITV1, ITVX and STV.
