Love Island star Davide Sanclimenti has revealed his belief that there should be a limit on potential returns to the show.

The star won the eighth series of the ITV reality show with Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu back in 2022, and that series included former contestant Adam Collard.

Kady McDermott, who participated in the second series of the show, returned in 2023, whilst Scott van-der-Sluis has appeared in three different iterations of the show since first appearing in season 10.

With the introduction of spin-offs Love Island Games and Love Island: All Stars, there is now naturally a higher chance of former stars returning to the villa, but Sanclimenti isn’t necessarily sold on the growing trend.

"I think one time is allowed to everyone, the second one is still fine. I think the third one, no. I wouldn't go over three. Two is the maximum, probably," he told RadioTimes, before outlining his ideal return to the show with Ekin-Su.

"We always say we'd love to come back [to the] villa or a contest like that, but of course not a dating show. As a couple, we say it would be nice to do something together because we're just funny.

"Sometimes we feel like we want to have the cameras at home because so many funny things happen, so we just feel like it should be a reality show, our whole life in general."

Whilst Sanclimenti has weighed in on the debate, series seven star Faye Winter recently spoke about the upcoming All Stars series, saying big characters were needed for the spin-off to flourish.

"I'd like them to bring back bold characters or characters from series one or two – maybe those that didn't stay in there that long," she said. "You want to see how far they've come and if they're a different person and even what they look like now."

"I think the problem we're going to have is if they decide to have a lot of Islanders from the more recent series, that didn't do so well in their series, I think it's going to die a death," she added.

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX. Love Island Games will air on Peacock in the US.
