Love Island's Laura breaks silence on Gary Lucy split during pregnancy

Former Love Island star Laura Anderson has spoken out for the first time following her split from Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy.

The former couple met on last year's series of Celebs Go Dating and got with each other rather than any civilians. Earlier this year, Laura announced that she is pregnant with Gary's baby, but he announced very shortly afterwards that they were no longer together.

Speaking to OK!, Laura stated that she has found it difficult going through such a public pregnancy while newly single.

"It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster so far," she said. "Going through a public break-up while pregnant and reading mistruths in the media has been a challenge.

"I just want to be positive and move forward, and I'm really excited about her coming along. I think if I can get through this, I can get through anything."

At the time, Gary said that him not moving to Scotland was the reason for their split, since he has four children in Essex.

Laura previously denied that was the case, and she reiterated this during her interview, saying: "That's not true. I was always moving to Essex."

She added that it was "really hard to explain" the actual reason they broke up, but suggested that a reconciliation is unlikely as things stand.

"I wanted us to reconcile and I wanted things to work out," she said, "but because of things I found out since then, and the fact nothing has been discussed or resolved, I think for now I'm trying to just be positive and think about the baby and be strong, because everything became too chaotic."

Love Island airs on ITV2, and is available via catch up on ITVX and BritBox.
