Love Island's Maya Jama denies falling out with Aftersun co-star

Love Island star Maya Jama has denied she was "stressed" by comments made by her Aftersun co-star Jordan Stephens.

The Rizzle Kicks singer appeared on the Love Island spin-off show to give his verdict on the current villa couplings as part of the celebrity panel, alongside former Love Island contestants Indiyah Polack and Amy Hart.

During the episode, Stephens was asked for his opinion on Joey Essex and Grace Jackson who he claimed weren't a good match, telling Maya: "We know what she wants, and it ain't Joey". The remark prompted an awkward laugh from Maya.

In an Instagram Story shared after she show, Maya confirmed that she wasn't "stressed" during the exchange, opening up on her friendship with the musician.

"For those that don't know @jordanfstephens is one of my best friends (some of you think I'm stressed by his comments on aftersun and I love it I'm just being professional)," read Maya's caption alongside a photo of them posing together backstage.

Maya and Jordan have been colleagues and friends for years, with the two also having appeared together on ITV2 panel show Don't Hate The Playaz back in 2019.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan last August, Maya admitted that Jordan would be one of her go-to guests at a house party, telling the publication: "Depending on where everyone is I’ll always invite Chynon, Letitia, Rhea, Jordan [Stephens], Abuk, Tiffany [Calver], Chunkz and Filly. They’re all such good vibes!"

This week the Love Island villa saw two new bombshells enter in the form of Trey Norman and Jessy Potts.

In last night's episode, new girl Jessy chose to go on a date with Joey Essex, which caused drama between him and his current partner Grace.

The islander told Joey that she was sick of him constantly being open to other girls and wanting to "explore" while she sits around waiting for him to come back.

In response, Joey admitted he wasn't "fully closed off" in his relationship with Grace at the moment.

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
