Luann de Lesseps Dishes on Dating: 40-Year-Olds Are 'Up into My Stuff,' 60 Somethings Have Bedroom 'Challenges'

The 'Real Housewives of New York City' alum admits that 40-year-old men are her dating "sweet spot"

Luann de Lesseps knows what she is looking for when it comes to love.

On Wednesday's episode of Tamron Hall, the Real Housewives of New York City alum, 58, opened up about her search for a man.

“That’s part of ‘life is a cabaret’ — that’s part of my story is we write it ourselves. And I write down what I want to manifest,” she explained. “What I want to manifest is a true partner.”

For Lesseps, a good partner is someone who is “age appropriate [and] who’s got a career.”

When asked what she considers age appropriate, she candidly shared, “Age appropriate for me is…well I’ll tell you something: so right now all the 40-year-olds, the 30-40-year-olds, are up into my stuff, if I can say that. The 50-year-olds are like ‘Oh damn, I’m 50. I need a 20-year-old.’ The 60-year-olds are a little challenged, you know what I mean, down in that department. And the 70-year-olds just want to have a good time all day long.”

The reality star has her sights on a younger man, saying, “So it’s really from the 40’s…you know, late 30s, 40s, for me, is my sweet spot… But listen, a young 50-year-old… but the problem with 50-year-olds is they usually want younger women because they have that ‘midlife crisis.’”

De Lesseps called herself “kind of a cougar,” adding, “I grew up with six brothers and sisters and four older brothers, so I’m very comfortable with men. I love men, I love flirting.”

However, the Countess shut down the notion that she would date multiple men at the same time.

“No, I’m not that kind of girl… I love men and I like to date and I like to flirt and I think there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m living my best life in my 50s, that’s all I’ve got to say,” she shared.

Last month, Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy star told PEOPLE that she was hoping to find love and settle down in 2024.

"I’m having the best time right now being single. But 2024, I’m manifesting to be my year of love because I’m a hopeless romantic," she said at the time.  "Three time’s the charm!"

Bravo viewers have seen the highs and lows of de Lesseps' love life over the years.

When RHONY premiered in March 2008, she was married to first husband Count Alexandre de Lesseps, with whom she shares two children: daughter Victoria, 29, and son Noel, 27. But the Count filed for divorce in 2009 after 16 years of marriage, leaving de Lesseps "devastated."

"I knew that we were kind of separating, but I was hoping that things were going to work out," she told PEOPLE at the time, adding that she always assumed she would be “married forever.”

She went on to find love with Jacques Azoulay, who appeared with her on RHONY, before their split in 2013. She then wed Tom D'Agostino in 2016; however, they divorced eight months later.

From then on, there was a series of short-lived romances, including one with her agent, Richard Super. And now, de Lesseps finds herself wanting something more serious. "It's time," she told PEOPLE. "I think I've kissed enough frogs, don't you?"
