A 64-year-old male driver, who was later identified as a driver with ride-hailing firm Grab, was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. Investigations are ongoing.

The Embassy also thanked Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education and Manpower Low Yen Ling for visiting the victims in hospital. “Their presence certainly lifted their spirit.”

It added, “We thank all those who have expressed their sympathy and concern for the victims and their families and encourage everyone to continue to pray for the fast and full recovery of those still in confinement.”
