Luke Combs gave Grammys viewers a tear-jerking surprise when he brought out Tracy Chapman to duet on her song, "Fast Car," at Sunday night's awards show. His cover of the song — which was initially released in 1988 — earned the North Carolina native a nomination for best country solo performance at this year's ceremony.

"When I was 5 years old, my dad and I would be in his truck, and he would always play music for me. He had a Tracy Chapman cassette tape, and 'Fast Car' is one of the first songs I remember," he previously told PEOPLE. "I’ve always been a huge fan of it and think of my dad and our time together when I hear it."

With the song charting again, it's clear that Combs isn't the only one who's super fond of the sweet ballad. In fact, several other musicians have also offered up their own renditions of Chapman's hit. From Justin Bieber to Sam Smith, here are singers who've covered "Fast Car."

Luke Combs

"That song, 'Fast Car,' it was my favorite song before I even knew what a favorite song was," Combs said in his Grammys video package during the show.

He continued, "I've been playing that song since I could play guitar, so when I went into the studio to record my most recent record, which was Gettin' Old, I was like, 'What if we just did this cover of 'Fast Car' just because I wanna do it?' "

"Tracy has obviously written one of the best songs for a few generations," he said, praising Chapman's songwriting skills.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber also performed a moving acoustic version of the song during his session on BBC Radio 1's In the Live Lounge back in 2016.

Sam Smith

Sam Smith put a sultry spin on the heartwarming ballad for their cover of "Fast Car," which also took place on In the Live Lounge in 2016.

Khalid

It was Khalid's turn at the wheel as he covered the song on the same show in 2018. For his performance, the singer brought his famous aching R&B vocals to the song, which only made it that much more heart-wrenching.

Passenger

English singer-songwriter Michael David Rosenberg — known professionally as Passenger — gave a folksy take to the song when he covered it in 2017. To date, his YouTube version has gleaned a whopping 5.4 million views.

Black Pumas

The Black Pumas delivered a spirited rendition of the song when they appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in 2020. Their cover was also featured on the deluxe edition of their debut album.

Boyce Avenue

Noted cover band Boyce Avenue tapped Kina Grannis for their version of "Fast Car." Posted in 2010, their video has amassed 86 million views over the years.
