Lupita Nyong’o Dons Updated Chanel Capped Toe Mary Jane in Black and White at Hollywood Confidential Event Honoring Her in Los Angeles

Lupita Nyong’o attended the Hollywood Confidential event in honor of her held in Los Angeles on Friday.
During the event, Nyong’o talked to the crowd about the book she authored titled “Sulwe,” and dished on her involvement in “A Quiet Place: Day One.” The apocalyptic horror film is a prequel to “A Quiet Place,” and will be released on June 27. Nyong’o plays the character Sam in the upcoming film.
The “Black Panther” star flattered her feet, donning a pair of white and black Chanel Mary Janes. The classic style featured black-capped toes embossed with the French fashion house’s logo, accompanied by contrasting white leather uppers, thick straps and adjustable buckle closures.
Subtle platform soles offered the silhouette a lift, further modernizing the tried and true style. 2 to 3-inch block heels finished off the set, offering the thespian a boost. The strap detailing fixed just below the ankles was extremely reminiscent of a classic Mary Jane silhouette.
Nyong’o wore the black and white shoe without socks. The Mary Jane silhouette has become increasingly popular in the past few years thanks to brands like Maison Margiela and Miu Miu, among others. While the style is enjoying a sort of renaissance at the moment, Mary Janes have been around since 1904.
Thinking pink, the “Us” actress wore a bright pink tweed blazer dress in a maxi length. The vibrant style was belted, and accompanied by a pastel pink quilted Chanel mini bag featuring gold monogrammed hardware and a short pink and gold shoulder strap.
Nyong’o is known to take a daring and bold approach to fashion. From Oscar de la Renta gowns to Valentino minidresses, the entertainer has quickly become a force in fashion and never misses a mark. For footwear, Nyong’o tends to gravitate towards pointy printed pumps, height-defying platforms and bright strappy sandals.
