Lupita Nyong’o Gives Little Black Dress a Fringy Update for ‘Seth Meyers,’ Talks ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’
Lupita Nyong’o showcased her take on the little black dress trend during her appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on Wednesday. The Oscar-winning actress joined the eponymous talk show host to chat about how she prepared for her forthcoming film “A Quiet Place: Day One.”
For her late-night appearance, Nyong’o fashioned a custom dress courtesy of fashion label Mônot. The sleeveless dress featured a glittering bodice and skirt, which transitioned into long fringe on the bottom for a playful spin on the classic little black dress.

Nyong’o continued the monochrome motif with strappy black pumps with a buckle strap around the ankle. The “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” star accessorized with jewelry courtesy of De Beers. Nyong’o became the brand’s first global ambassador in October 2022, starring in their “Where It Begins” campaign.
Her makeup, which featured a pop of color with a berry red lip, was done by Nick Barose, while her hair was styled by Vernon François. The Oscar-winning actress’ look was curated by stylist Micaela Erlanger.
While chatting with Meyers, Nyong’o shared her preparation process for her forthcoming film, “A Quiet Place: Day One,” the third installment in the “Quiet Place” series, which also includes 2018’s “A Quiet Place” and 2020’s “A Quiet Place: Part II.”
“The first ones I watched at home in the daylight, where I could pause when I got too scared. But what I loved about them when I watched them — I really did regret not watching them in the cinema,” Nyong’o said.
“They do lend themselves to the cinematic experience,” Nyong’o said of the first two films in the franchise, referencing both films’ “sound emersion” quality.
“I could imagine what it would be like to watch it with a bunch of people.”
“A Quiet Place: Day One” chronicles the first day an alien species, who attack other beings based on any noise they make, invades the planet. Nyong’o stars alongside “Stranger Things” breakout star Joseph Quinn and Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou.
