SINGAPORE — M1 is replacing its 19 existing mobile plans with one base plan each for its new SIM-only and handset bundles.

Announcing the move on Tuesday (28 May), the local telco said the new plans would be available immediately and are part of an effort to “refine its mobile offering on the basis of changing customer needs and expectations”.

M1’s new contract-free SIM-only base plan starts from $25 a month with 30GB of data while the handset base plan starts from a $30-a-month contract with 12GB of data. Users of either plan will get unlimited weekend data, free caller ID, unlimited free calls to three M1 numbers and unlimited music streaming on Spotify.

“Customers can then build and personalise their own plans over the base plan by adding on more data, voice minutes, SMS, roaming pack and other value-added services depending on their expected usage and need,” said M1 in its press release.

The prices of handset base plan add-ons range from $20 for an additional 5GB of data and extra 100 minutes of talk time to $205 for an added 100GB of data and unlimited talk time.

To help customers build their new plans, M1 has launched a new website with a streamlined interface. Those signing up for the new mobile plans can have their handsets and SIM cards delivered to them free of charge.

The telco said those who are currently on contract can download the My M1 app or call the customer service hotline (1627) to check if they are eligible to change to the new plan.
