Some M1 customers experienced difficulties in accessing 3G and 4G mobile data services on Thursday morning (20 September).

The local telco posted on its Facebook page at 7.18am that its engineers were working to resolve the issue. At 8.19am, it updated its post stating that its mobile data services had been restored. It also apologised for the inconvenience caused.

However, some of its customers were unhappy that M1 made the announcement only on social media, which they would not be able to receive if they could not access their 3G or 4G mobile data services.

User Clifford Koh Wee Hee said in a comment posted at 8.30am that the least M1 could have done was to send an SMS message to inform all its customers.

He added: “I panicked just now and thought my phone was broken.”

Another user, Katherine Chua, complained that she was unable to get through to M1’s customer service hotline. She added that she was not able to access data in Woodlands, Jurong, Bedok, Yishun and Outram.
