It's been a transformative year so far for the rapper-turned-rocker, who recently debuted a massive blackout tattoo that covered much of his upper torso. A few months later, in early April, the singer showed off his transformation as he documented the tattoo process and "the physical change of my body" in an Instagram clip.

At one point in the video, he called the tattoo the "most painful s--- I’ve ever experienced in my life," and the clip showed just that, with his elbows swelling and his arms dripping with blood.

To help his body "heal faster," MGK spent some time wearing an oxygen mask while sitting in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, which was also documented on his account.

MGK's partner, Megan Fox, shared her thoughts on his new ink during an appearance on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast in March. She said it was “really elegant” and that it had a “special story” behind it.

"But the relationship with the tattoos that he had was very conflicted emotionally, whatever they represented — and I don't actually know — but he didn't like to revisit those memories of some of the tattoos that he had and he wanted to get rid of them," Fox said.

"It's like an elevated version of all those tattoos that were pieced together," she added. "It's really elegant and it's kind of ahead of its time. I think in 10 years it'll be a trend."
