Mad Men’s Jon Hamm to star in new Apple TV+ drama series

Mad Men star Jon Hamm has signed on to play the lead role in Apple TV+ drama Your Friends and Neighbors.

As reported by Deadline, Hamm will star in and executive produce the series — marking his first starring role in an ongoing drama since the hit AMC show ended in 2015.

"Hamm stars as Coop, a recently divorced hedge fund manager who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from the wealthy residents in his tony upstate New York suburb in order to keep his family's lifestyle afloat. These petty crimes begin to reinvigorate him until he breaks into the wrong house at the wrong time," reads the official logline for the series.

Warrior creator Jonathan Tropper will serve as showrunner and executive producer for the series, as part of his overall deal with the streaming service. As well as Hamm, Connie Tavel is also among the show's list of executive producers.

Your Friends and Neighbors marks Tropper's latest collaboration with Apple, after he served as showrunner on the dystopian drama See, starring Jason Momoa. Hamm returns to Apple after recently playing complicated tech billionaire Paul Marks in the third season of The Morning Show.

The actor — who recently landed another TV role in an adaptation of a podcast — recently spoke about his dream to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"I would love to. I've been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits," he told ScreenRant.

"I think there are tons of stories that I'm familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told. Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories."

"There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, [like] Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?"

Your Friends and Neighbors doesn't have a release date yet.
