“Madame Web” Exclusive Video: Dakota Johnson and Cast Tease a 'Different Kind of Superhero Story'
Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney star in 'Madame Web,' in theaters Feb. 14
Madame Web isn't like other superhero movies.
Dakota Johnson stars as Cassandra, aka Madame Web, in the upcoming film, described as a "standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing's most enigmatic heroines." Her character can see glimpses of the future — and potentially change events to save the day.
Madame Web is "a different kind of superhero story," says costar Sydney Sweeney in the video.
Adds Johnson, "This film and this story catapults [Cassandra] into discovering her superpowers." Teases Sweeney: "There's all of these different webs that she's putting together."

An official synopsis for Madame Web says the suspense-driven thriller follows Cassandra Webb, "a paramedic in Manhattan who develops the power to see the future and realizes she can use that insight to change it."
"Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women bound for powerful destinies — if they can all survive a deadly present."
Those three women (who develop Spidey-powers) are Sweeney's Julia Cornwall, Celeste O’Connor's Mattie Franklin, and Isabela Merced's Anya Corazon. And the villain Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim) is determined to stop them from reaching their full super-powered potential.

The cast also includes Adam Scott, Emma Roberts and Mike Epps.
Fifty Shades of Grey alum Johnson, 34, recently told Entertainment Weekly about making the film, saying, "I’ve never really done a movie where you are on a blue screen, and there’s fake explosions going off, and someone’s going, ‘Explosion!’ and you act like there’s an explosion. That to me was absolutely psychotic."
"I was like, ‘I don’t know if this is going to be good at all! I hope that I did an okay job!’ " she joked.
Madame Web, directed by SJ Clarkson, is in theaters Feb. 14.
