BBC Greenlights Reality Series Following British Boy Band In Land Of K-pop

The BBC has greenlit a reality series following a fledgling British boy band as it departs for Korea to attend the ultimate K-Pop boot camp.

The untitled show is the debut commission for BAFTA-winning producer Nigel Hall (Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor, One Direction), talent manager Russ Lindsay (former manager of Ant & Dec and Simon Cowell) and broadcast executive Dawn Airey’s Moon & Back Media, coming from the indie’s partnership with SM Entertainment. Deadline revealed the company’s launch last year and it is backed Steve Michaels’ Asylum Entertainment Group.

It follows the as-yet-unnannounced band as it departs for Korea to attend the ultimate K-Pop boot camp, learning from the experts who have created the world’s biggest K-Pop superstars. But will these young artists have what it takes to learn from the best and make the jump from ordinary life to new pop sensations?

SM Entertainment has launched K-pop groups including NCT, Aespa, SuperM, Red Velvet, and Riize.

The show is the BBC’s first major move into the world of K-pop TV.

At London TV Screenings, ITV Studios is also selling the likes of Can’t Sell Must Sell, Big Zuu’s 12 Dishes in 12 Hours and Predator v Prey.
