"The amount of times I've answered this question," she began. "Long story short, my dad went on a Mormon mission to Melbourne. Growing up we had little Aussie trinkets all around the house and I was just obsessed with Australia.

"Also Alexander's Very Good Very Bad Day – what is that book called (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day)? In it he's going to move to Australia and I was always obsessed. So, yeah, one day I was like, 'I'm just going to do it'," she continued.

"Quit my job. Sold my car. Put everything into storage and booked a one-way ticket. And here I am nine years later living my best life in this winter sunshine," she added.

Alyssa was also asked whether she would consider returning to the US.

"I think it's a much better place to raise a child in Australia," she explained. "I don't need him doing gun drills in kindergarten, so Australia's my home, even though my heart will always be in America."

Alyssa's time with Duncan on MAFS was certainly heated, with the latter beginning a relationship with Evelyn Ellis following the series' conclusion.

In the same Instagram session, Alyssa revealed that she had argued with Duncan over his friendship with Evelyn, but the conflict was left unaired.

"There were a lot of fights [between Duncan and I] about the two of them that were never shown," she revealed. "Was it [their relationship] a surprise? I want to say no – it was not a surprise to me."
