MAFS UK has surprise breakout star

As the new series of MAFS UK continued tonight (September 19), we were treated to a surprising breakout star: Ella's 90-year-old nan Valerie.
Tonight's episode saw two more weddings, which included an awkward photoshoot and an emotional conversation, but it was Ella's nan who stole the show.
Matched by the dating experts tonight were florist Rozz and cat-loving Thomas and the show's first-ever trans contestant Ella and her new husband Nathaniel.
Ahead of the weddings, we were given a glimpse into contestants' home lives, and it was revealed that Ella lives with her nan, whom she cares for.

"I currently live with and look after my nan, who is 90 years old. I do all of the cooking, the cleaning," Ella said.
She then admitted that living with her nan has affected her love life in the past – so much so that she once had to push a date out of the window to keep her nan from seeing him.
Ella's nan later quipped: "You're the only single one of all my grandchildren, and I've got loads of them!"
When Ella asked her nan if she thinks she has good taste in men, Valerie laughed and simply replied: "No."

Ella's husband-to-be was told she was trans ahead of filming "to ensure fully informed consent", but tonight, Ella got to open up about her journey face-to-face with Nathaniel.
"I don't know if you've ever had experience, but I am trans, I identify as trans," a nervous Ella told Nathaniel, who shared that he's pansexual and wants to get to know her more.
"I'm quite shocked because this is not what I'm used to," Ella said. "All that worry and all that stress, and actually, he just doesn't care – he likes me for me."
Ella's nan was absent from the wedding, but Ella FaceTimed her during the ceremony. Valerie cheekily told Nathaniel: "You're gonna have me to contend with."
