Crews Prepare to Free Trapped Indian Tunnel Workers

All 41 workers trapped since November 12 in a collapsed tunnel in the Indian Himalayas were safely evacuated on Tuesday, November 28, authorities said.

Videos released by the government of the state of Uttarakhand on Tuesday show crews preparing roadways and passageways at the Silkyara Bend-Barkot Tunnel near the village of Wan.

Officials also said a temporary medical camp had been set up inside the tunnel to check each worker’s health upon release. Credit: Uttarakhand DIPR via Storyful
