His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim today attended the Jalur Gemilang handing over ceremony for the national contingents heading to the Paris Olympics and Paralympics.

At the event in Istana Negara, the athletes were accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, Olympics chef-de-mission, Datuk Hamidin Amin, and Paralympics chef-de-mission, Datuk Subramaniam Raman Nair.

To date, a total of 25 national athletes will compete in the Olympics, which will take place from July 26 to Aug 11, while 20 national Paralympic athletes will take part in the Paralympics from Aug 28 to Sept 8.

“I would like to wish all the best to all our athletes competing in the Olympics,” said Sultan Ibrahim.

“Let us pray for the success of our athletes who will be representing the country in the Olympics and Paralympics,” Sultan Ibrahim decreed, said via the Royal Press Office.

Also present at Istana Negara were Olympic Council of Malaysia president, Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, Malaysian Paralympic Council president, Datuk Seri Megat D. Shariman, and Youth and Sports Ministry secretary-general, K. Nagulendran.
