Faidz Sanusi ended his tenure as Malaysia Stadium Corporation (PSM) chief executive officer on March 17, leaving the field wide open as to who will occupy the hot seat in Bukit Jalil.

Faidz’s final day was documented by PSM on its social media accounts on March 18 – the same day he reported for duty at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. He is now attached to the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU).

Faidz, when contacted by Twentytwo13, confirmed the move, but declined to comment further. His name, however, still remains on the organisational chart on PSM’s website.

Prior to his stint in PSM, Faidz was the press secretary to former Youth and Sports minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu. He was made CEO of PSM on March 18, 2022.

Faidz is noted for carrying out upgrading works in and around the National Stadium and the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, and the tennis courts at Jalan Duta. They included refurbishing the running tracks outside the main stadium, repairing the roof at the National Stadium, and refitting toilets at various venues.

PSM, however, has been plagued with issues for decades, revolving mainly around the pitch at the National Stadium, which also doubles up as a concert venue. The playing field, once again, hogs the spotlight as Malaysia is set to take on Oman tonight (10pm) in a World Cup qualifying match. Oman defeated Malaysia 2-0 in Muscat last week.

Both teams were unable to train at the National Stadium due to the field’s sorry state, irking Oman head coach Jaroslav Silhavy.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said the FIFA match commissioner did not allow Malaysia or Oman to train at the National Stadium because it had been raining in the evenings.
