SINGAPORE — A man who was previously charged with assisting three individuals in sneaking into a Taylor Swift concert is now accused of selling fake VIP tickets to one of them and convincing security guards at the venue that the tickets were real.

Yang Chenguang, a 29-year-old Chinese national, was first charged on 6 March for assisting Shangguan Linmo, Hu Zhijin, and Yang Junhao in entering the concert at the Singapore Sports Hub on 4 March, which was the third day of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Singapore.

He was handed a second fresh charge on Wednesday (20 March) of cheating Yang Junhao, one of the alleged trespassers, into believing he was buying three valid VIP Singapore Eras Tickets. This alleged deception took place on the same day as the concert, local media CNA reported.

The charge outlines that Yang Chenguang persuaded Yang Junhao to pay an Alipay user 12,000 yuan (S$2,240) for three tickets, which he failed to disclose that he did not possess.

Original charge over allegedly deceiving Sports Hub security

Yang Chenguang was originally charged over allegedly distracting a security officer by talking to him while his co-accused, Li Xiaowei, 45, held onto a turnstile for the trio to enter the concert.

CNA reported that the first charge against the 29-year-old was amended to state that he had entered into the "person check security area" of the Singapore Sports Hub to deceive the security officers stationed inside the National Stadium.

He allegedly deceived them into believing that the trio possessed legitimate tickets for Swift's concert, persuading them to allow the trio to enter the concert venue.

According to CNA, Yang Chenguang has indicated his intention to plead guilty after this fresh charge.

Li, who was also charged on 6 March, had his charge for abetting trespass amended to include the alleged cheating of security guards. Li also indicated that he would plead guilty.

Both individuals have been remanded since 6 March.

If found guilty of abetting trespass, they could face imprisonment for up to three months, a fine of up to S$1,500, or both. As for cheating, Yang Chenguang could be sentenced to 10 years in jail and fined.
