A man has been arrested after a fatal car crash.

Emergency crews were called to the A595 at Bothel in the early hours, Cumbria Police said.

One of the drivers, a man in his 70s from the Wigton area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man in his 30s, believed to be the other driver, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Officers said the crash involved two cars - a black Toyota RAV and a blue Honda Civic - and happened at about 00:25 BST.

The force is appealing for witnesses.
