Man charged with assault, uttering threats at Cornwall school
A 35-year-old man from Scarborough, Ont., is facing several charges and remains in police custody after allegedly threatening multiple persons at a Cornwall, Ont., high school Monday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police said they responded to Holy Trinity Catholic School just before 10:30 a.m. after receiving a report an individual with an "edged weapon." They deployed a stun gun during the arrest, police said.
Police said no school staff or students were injured.
The man is facing several charges, including assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, destruction of property and possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose. Police did not release the name of the accused.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall at a later date, police said.
