Man charged with murder of 40-year-old woman in Woodlands

A 34-year-old man was charged in the State Courts on Friday (18 January) with the murder of a 40-year-old woman in Woodlands.

M. Krishnan is accused of killing Mallika Begum Rahamansa Abdul Rahman at an 11th floor unit at Block 693D Woodlands Avenue 6.

He allegedly committed the crime between 10pm on Wednesday and 1.37am on Thursday.

No other details were given in his charge sheet.

In a statement on Thursday, the police said they received a call for assistance at 1.34am. Officers found a woman lying motionless in a room. She was later pronounced dead on the spot by paramedics.

Policemen arrested Krishnan on the same day. Both the suspect and the victim were known to each other, police said.

Krishnan is being remanded at Central Police Division and will be back in court next Friday.

If found guilty of murder, he faces the death penalty.
