Man charged over air weapon incident

A 63-year-old man has been charged with firearms offences after allegedly pointing a suspected air weapon at police officers.

West Midlands Police said there had also been reports on Thursday of passers-by in the same location - Bridsland Road, Birmingham - having the weapon pointed at them, before it appeared to fire at the street.

The accused was arrested at the scene and nobody was hurt and no damage was caused, police said.

The man has been charged with possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence, three counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and possession of an offensive weapon. He is due to appear before Birmingham magistrates.
