A man has died in California after being hit by three vehicles that didn't stop to help.

The man, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, was “crossing mid-block on San Fernando Road” in Los Angeles when he was first hit by a light-colored pickup truck traveling the wrong way at around 11:45 p.m. local time on Friday, according to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The pedestrian then attempted to get up but was hit by a light-colored SUV that was “also going northbound San Fernando Road,” which is located in the San Fernando Valley.

"The force of the second collision threw the pedestrian onto southbound lanes where he was run over by a third vehicle," the release continued, adding that the car was a dark-colored SUV.

"All three vehicles failed to stop, render aid, and remain at scene as required by law."

The man, who was identified by police as "possibly Hispanic," was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics responded to the incident, per the release. His name is being “withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office."

Local business owner Amgad Khalil, who says he witnessed the incident from his security camera video, told NBC Los Angeles, "He was breathing. He was trying to get up. And, even after then, he was hit again on the other side of the street."

"What would they have thought if that was one of their family members?" continued Khalil. "I don’t know what kind of souls these people have, but I'm guessing they don't."

Khalil told the outlet that he did not witness the collisions, but ran to help when he saw the incident on his video. "I walked up to him, put the light on him. He wasn’t breathing," he said.

He added that he would often see the man walking around the neighborhood with a blanket. According to NBC Los Angeles, the blanket remained at the scene where the pedestrian died.

Police said that “the first and second vehicles who struck the pedestrian were last seen northbound San Fernando Road towards Osborne Street," while the third car was last seen "southbound San Fernando Road towards Branford Street.”
